Why isn’t my life how I want it to be?

We are creatures of habit. Human beings are predisposed towards sameness. We go down the same tracks over and over again and wonder why they always lead to the same destinations! How is it that we can start a new year hoping it will be different / better than last year and yet keep doing, thinking and saying the same old stuff that we did, thought and said last year?

It’s that definition of madness isn’t it? “Doing the same thing over and over but expecting a different result!”

If you want a different outcome, you’ve got to get on a different track! The one you’re on led to the outcome you’ve got! How do you know if you need to get on a different track? Ask yourself: am I happy, fulfilled and enthused about where I am right now? Am I fully satisfied with the reality I am currently living? If the answer is No then I suggest you need to change tracks.

It may or may not be a big change that’s needed. It may just be tweak. It may be that certain aspects of your life are going great but certain other aspects aren’t. So it may be that you need to change tracks with regard to your relationships or financial habits, but keep on the track you’re on with your health and career.  I recommend a quarterly ‘Whole Life-MOT’: in my experience even with the best will in the world, and the best of intentions, we can very easily revert back to the same ingrained habits and patterns that have formed our thinking and practice over many years.

Change is difficult.  It takes discipline. And usually it takes support from someone who can alert us to our ingrained, subconscious tendencies before we get right off track and have to start from scratch. You might want to consider the support of a coach.

We are creatures of habit. Which means everyone working for you or with you also has that tendency to revert back to the bad habits and practices that day after day affect the productivity and efficiency of your business or organisation.

Richard Branson said: “Clients do not come first. Employees come first. Take care of your employees and they will take care of your clients.”
